Women’s Basketball Runs Past Central Penn, 66–35

Penn State York Women's Basketball came flying out of the gates, opening the 2017–18 season with a 66–35 win over Central Penn College Tuesday, Nov. 7. York took a 23–9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, leading 43–17 at the half.
 
Coach Terri Van Slyke was able to spread the playing time across her roster, and nine York players scored. Freshman Janelle Kress (Littlestown, Pennsylvania / Littlestown High School) shot 50% from the field and scored 13 points to go with 8 steals and 4 assists, while Senior Emily Colon (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) also added 13 points in just 19 minutes.
 
York got good production from its bench, as Sophomore Sky Warner (Brogue, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) added 12 points off the bench, and was 2 of 4 from three-point range. Freshman Ninive Robles-Flores (York, Pennsylvania / Spring Vale Academy) pulled down 9 rebounds in only 15 minutes on the floor.
 
Penn State York travels to Johnson City, New York this weekend for the Quality Inn Showcase at Davis College. York will take on Mid-Atlantic Christian on Saturday afternoon, then play Davis on Sunday.
