Penn State York Volleyball hosted Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Sept. 23 in its home opener. The match was the first event on a new gym floor in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.
Wilkes-Barre won the match 3–0 (25–17, 25–9, 25–13) to improve to 1-1 in Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference play, while York fell to 0-2.
Jaclyn Matthews (Red Lion, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) and Allison Macklin (Airville, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) both recorded three aces, Madison Winkowski (Red Lion, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) led the team with four kills, and Magdalen Matthews (Red Lion, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) had five digs for the home team.
York next travels to Penn State Mont Alto for an away match on Wednesday and again on Saturday for a tri-match before hosting Penn State Beaver and Penn State Greater Allegheny on Sunday.
