Colon Receives National Honors from USCAA

Emily Colon

Penn State York Women's Basketball's Emily Colon was recently named a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Academic All-American. The Academic All-American designation is awarded to student-athletes with a sophomore or higher standing and a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

In addition to Academic All-American honors, Colon earned a USCAA All-American Honorable Mention. Student-athletes are nominated for this award by coaches and athletic directors, and voted on by the USCAA.

The national honors come on top of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Second Team All-Conference honors Colon earned for her play in the 2017–18 season.

The 5'6" senior from Lancaster, Pennsylvania (Lancaster Catholic) averaged 15.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game before tearing her ACL with two weeks to play in the season. Colon was honored during a ceremony after the team's 59–56 upset win over Penn State Brandywine Feb. 6.

Majoring in psychology, Colon twice scored 30 points in a game this season, on Nov. 11 vs. Mid-Atlantic Christian and again Jan. 12 against Penn State Mont Alto, when she shot 12–21 from the field and 5–7 from the line. In January, following the Mont Alto game, Colon was named the PSUAC Player of the Week.
