Penn State York Men's Soccer freshman defender Cameron Caple (South Western / Glenville, Pennsylvania) received the 2018 John Fritz Sportsmanship Award.

The recipient of the award demonstrates good sportsmanship in that he displays ethical, appropriate, polite and fair behavior while participating in athletic events and as a member of their team. The recipient shall exemplify the Penn State Values (integrity, responsibility, excellence, respect, discovery and community).

The award is named in honor of former Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Commissioner John Fritz, who dedicated 30-plus years of service to Penn State Athletics and demonstrated these qualities.

"Cam is the kind of player who makes everyone play at a higher level, pushing his fellow players to be better and play hard, a level to which he also holds himself," shared Head Coach Tim Weikert.

Caple, who also sometimes wore the captain's armband, started all 10 of the team's 11 games in which he played, never receiving a single yellow or red card.

Penn State York finished the season with a 4-6-2 record overall, going 4-3-2 in the PSUAC to secure a playoff spot before ultimately falling to Penn State Greater Allegheny in the first round.
