Men’s Basketball Outlasts Penn State Hazleton in OT

Penn State York Men's Basketball opened Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play with an eventful 81–74 overtime win on the road at Penn State Hazleton.
 
York sat on an 18-point advantage at halftime before Hazleton stormed back to take the lead with 2:04 remaining. Junior Richard Grant (York, Pennsylvania / Susquehannock High School) was fouled making a layup with 1:06 to play, and his free throw leveled the score at 65, where it would stand at the end of regulation.
 
Sophomore Joey O'Dwyer (Baltimore, Maryland / Dulaney High School) hit two of his four 3-pointers in the overtime period and Grant made consecutive layups off steals by Jordin Brown (Hanover, Pennsylvania / New Oxford High School) and Larry Rascoe (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania / Susquehanna Township High School) as York controlled extra time.
 
Grant scored 14 of his 22 points in the second half, and had 6 in overtime, as well as 9 rebounds. Rascoe would finish with 16 points and 5 assists on 4 of 7 shooting, while O'Dwyer recorded 14 points for the game.
 
Junior Justin Luton (Baltimore, Maryland / Newtown High School) scored 11 points and had 5 rebounds. Freshman Dominic Webb (Edgewood, Maryland / Harford Tech High School) added 8 points in 16 minutes off the bench for York.
 
Hazleton's Nick Nowak would lead all scorers with 24 points, while Shay Nelson had a mixed night in the paint, scoring 15 points on 6 of 16 shooting to go with his 13 rebounds.
 
Penn State York improves to 4–1 on the season, starting 1–0 in the PSUAC. After the Thanksgiving Break York travels to Penn State Worthington Scranton, playing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
