In the team's last tuneup before conference play begins, Penn State York Men's Basketball defeated the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Bulldogs, 95–66, on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Newcomer Larry Rascoe (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania / Susquehanna Township High School) again struggled to shoot the ball, but had 10 assists in just 19 minutes on the floor, providing the engine during a first-half burst which gave York control of the game. The sophomore transfer had plenty of help in the scoring department, as York shot 49% from the field while holding the Bulldogs to just a 27% rate. York would hold a big lead going into halftime, 53–29.
Richard Grant (York, Pennsylvania / Susquehannock Township High School) had another double-double, scoring 24 points on 8 of 12 shooting, and pulling down 14 rebounds for York.
Joey O'Dwyer (Baltimore, Maryland / Dulaney High School) again was on fire from distance, hitting 6 of 10 3-pointers on his way to 22 points. Wednesday was the third straight game in which the sophomore made at least five from distance, and he is shooting 57% from behind the arc on the young season.
Justin Luton (Baltimore, Maryland/ New Town High School) had 4 blocks to go along with 5 rebounds and 9 points. Thaddeus Stevens out-rebounded York on the night, but swarming defense in the paint from Luton and his teammates caused many off-balance shots.
Penn State York received good contributions off the bench, as 13 different players got in the game. Jonny Sutton (York, Pennsylvania / Dallastown Area High School) had 11 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals, finding quick chances in transition. Freshman AJ Richards (Reisterstown, Maryland / Dulaney High School) added 9 points on 3 of 4 shooting in 15 minutes on the floor.
With the win, Penn State York improves to 3-1 and turns its attention to the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference schedule and three straight away games. Up first is Penn State Hazleton, where York will play Friday evening, Nov. 17. After trips to Penn State Worthington and Penn State Lehigh Valley, York will return home to play Penn State Du Bois at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 on the second day of a back-to-back.
