Central Penn College Defeats Men’s Basketball

Penn State York Men's Basketball opened the regular season at home against the Central Penn College Knights, Tuesday, Nov. 7. In a rematch of the USCAA Division II National Championships semifinal game from last season, which York won 82–71, Central Penn was able to flip the outcome and come out on top this time, 84–56.
 
York struggled with foul trouble and was only able to shoot 36% from the floor on the night, while also committing 28 turnovers which led to 30 Central Penn points. Central Penn also enjoyed a 44–27 advantage on the boards, including 20 offensive rebounds.
 
Junior Richard Grant (York, Pennsylvania / Susquehannock High School) led the Nittany Lions with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Knights' Joel Zola led all scorers with 17.
 
A number of Penn State York reserves got significant playing time, including Freshman Jordin Brown (Hanover, Pennsylvania / New Oxford High School) who went 2 of 3 from distance and tallied 10 points.
 
The two teams will see each other again this season, as Penn State York visits Central Penn College on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
 
York next travels to Penn State Mont Alto this weekend for the John Benchoff Tournament, playing against Williamson Friday evening, then facing Davis Saturday afternoon.
