Baseball Wins Game 1 of Doubleheader

Game 1:

The baseball team hosted a doubleheader against Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Sunday afternoon. In Game 1 of the doubleheader, Brendon Delridge (York, Pa. / York Suburban) would lead Penn State York to a 5-2 victory thanks to his efforts on the mound. The Junior finished the complete game victory by allowing just four hits, two runs (two earned), while walking one and striking out eight in the contest. With the win, Delridge improves his record to 4-1 on the year.

At the plate, PSU York only had four hits in the contest. The hits were collected by Austin Lehman (Millersburg, Pa. / Millersburg Area), John "JP" Dyson (Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern), Chad Speiser (Dillsburg Pa. /  Northern York), and Alex Peters (Bel Air, Md. / Patterson Mill). Jackie Barlow (Manchester, Md. / Manchester Valley) was walked in all three of his at-bats. 

PSU York took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Dyson that scored Lehman. The game would remain 1-0 until the top of the third when PSU Wilkes-Barre would score two runs of their own thanks to an RBI single and a fielder's choice that scored their second run. 

Heading into the bottom half of the third, PSU York trailed 2-1. Delridge would reach base on an error that would score Dyson and tie the game at 2-2. Later in the inning, Brad Church (York, Pa. / York Suburban) would give PSU York the lead with an RBI fly-out, scoring Joerick Mercado (York, Pa. / Central York). PSU York would score two more runs, one coming in the fourth and the other in the sixth in the 5-2 victory. 

The win improved PSU York's record to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the PSUAC. PSU Wilkes-Barre fell to 4-6 overall and 4-2 in the PSUAC. Game 2 of the doubleheader would serve as the rubber match in the series.
