Baseball Wins Game 1 Against Schuylkill

Baseball Wins by Mercy Rule:

The Penn State York baseball team defeated Penn State Schuylkill 12-2 Friday afternoon to begin the three-game weekend series. The game was tied 2-2 after four-innings, but that wouldn't last long as Penn State York would score ten unanswered runs to win the game by mercy rule after just seven-innings. 

Penn State York scored eight runs in the top half of the fifth, putting the game out of reach for Penn State Schuylkill. At the plate, eight different Penn State York batters would combine for a total of ten hits on the day. Jackie Barlow (Manchester, Md. / Manchester Valley) and Avery Penson (York, Pa. / York Suburban) led the charge by recording two hits and two runs on the day. Brady Lefever (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) hit his first home run of the year and collected two RBI's on the day. 

On the mound, Brendon Delridge (York, Pa. / York Suburban) improved his record to 3-0 on the year. Delridge pitched a complete game (seven-innings), allowing eight hits, two runs (one earned), two walks, while striking out four on the day.

Penn State Schuylkill struggled on defense. Despite giving up twelve runs, only four were earned as Penn State Schuylkill's defense committed five errors on the day. 

Penn State York improved their record to 6-1 on the year and 4-0 in the PSUAC, while Penn State Schuylkill fell to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the PSUAC.
