York Knocks Off Brandywine

YORK, Pa. – Penn State York dealt Penn State Brandywine a 100-68 defeat in Penn State University Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Tuesday night.

Brandywine fell behind 22-11 eight minutes into the first half, but Pat Gallagher's (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) layup started a run of 10-straight points during the next three minutes for the Lions. Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) sandwiched a pair of three-pointers around Quentin Beasley's (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) basket to bring the Lions within one at the 10:26 mark.

Two minutes later, Brandywine took its first lead on a Gallagher free throw and the Lions would extend the margin to four points twice on buckets from Ketquan Gatewood (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Collegiate Prep), the last of which coming with 5:05 to play in the half. York countered with the next 10 points and 18 of the final 22 to vault into the lead at the break, 50-40.

Gatewood's layup during the second minute of the final stanza brought the Lions within eight, but the hosts reeled off 14-straight points to seize control for the remainder of the game.

Brandywine shot 36 percent from the field and knocked down 7-of-18 three-point attempts, but York connected on 53 percent of its field goal tries and outrebounded Brandywine 47-28.

Gallahger paced four Lions in double-figure scoring with 16 points, 14 of which came during the first half. He added five assists, while Gatewood produced 14 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) collected 11 points and Barrouk tallied 10, along with six boards.

Brandywine travels to Penn State Fayette for a 8:00 pm tip-off on Friday night.
