Men's Basketball Falls in PSUAC Opener to Penn State York

YORK, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball fell in their PSUAC conference opener to Penn State York, 92-65.

A three-point field goal by Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School) initiated a 7-4 stretch by Schuylkill to begin the contest. York responded with a 14-0 run to take an 18-7 lead with 13:21 to go in the first half. Schuylkill remained in attack mode, as two back-to-back jump shots by Devin Adams (Baltimore, MD / Kenwood High School) kickstarted a 15-7 Schuylkill run. Schuylkill managed to close the gap to three on a made basket by Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) with 5:18 remaining in the half. A late surge in the half gave York a 41-28 lead heading into halftime.

Byrd's three point make with 17:47 to go brought Schuylkill's deficit to 43-36. With 12:26 to go in regulation, York gained their biggest lead of 15 points on a made jump shot. A 5-0 swing by Makhi Jones (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) kept Schuylkill within striking distance. However, another York run pushed their lead to 20 points with 8:41 remaining in the game.

Jones led Schuylkill in scoring with 16 points off the bench. Sepp and Wilvens Fleurizard (Tamarac, FL / Coral Springs High School) tallied 11 points each in the loss.

Schuylkill (1-6 overall, 0-1 PSUAC) will play the second half of their back-to-back on Wednesday, November 29th as they travel to NCAA Division III opponent St. Mary's College.
