Men's Basketball Loses to Penn State York in PSUAC Quarterfinals

YORK, Pa. – #4 seed Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball fell in their PSUAC Quarterfinal matchup to #1 seed Penn State York on Monday.

Trailing 8-6 with 12:23 left in the first half, Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) knocked down a three-pointer to give Schuylkill the lead. York quickly regained the lead with a three-pointer of their own on the next possession. As York aimed to stretch their lead to double digits after an 11-2 run, Amir Gray (Washington, DC / Quince Orchard High School) hit a three-pointer to stop York's momentum and bring Schuylkill within five. Another surge by York to end the half gave them a 32-18 lead at halftime.

A jump shot by Makhi Jones (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) at 7:30 started a 15-0 run for Schuylkill, reducing their deficit to 52-44 with 4:57 left in the game. A 7-0 run by York pushed their lead back to double digits with just over two minutes remaining. York maintained their lead for the rest of the game.

Jones led Schuylkill with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Gray scored 8 points off the bench. Byrd added 7 points.
