Penn State York Women's Basketball hosted Trinity Washington for a non-conference game Monday evening, Nov. 20 during the campus' Thanksgiving break. York never trailed, winning by the largest margin of victory in the program's recent history, 77–41.
Penn State York would score first and maintain a single-digit lead through the first quarter, but then used its distance shooting to grow the lead in the second quarter. On the game, York would shoot 46% from behind the arc. A Catherine Brubaker 3-pointer seconds before halftime gave York a 40–23 lead.
York really blew things wide open in the third quarter, holding Trinity to just 4 points, while scoring 19 more of their own.
Brubaker, a freshman from Dillsburg, Pennsvylania, was 4 of 5 from 3-point range for 14 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Senior Emily Colon (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) led all scorers with 18 points, going 6 for 8 from the field and hitting all 4 of her free throws. Colon also finished with 6 assists and 3 steals.
Janelle Kress (Littlestown, Pennsylvania / Littlestown High School) added 13 points and Sky Warner (Brogue, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) contributed a full line with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Karra Thomason (New Oxford, Pennsylvania / Bermudian Springs High School) led all players with 14 rebounds.
Penn State York next travels to take on division power Penn State Lehigh Valley in a game played at Cedar Crest College on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Lehigh Valley handily won both games against York last season on their way to a perfect 14–0 regular season in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC). Although it ultimately fell in both games, Lehigh Valley would advance to both the PSUAC Championship and the USCAA Division II National Championship, and returns Andrea Watkins, the 2016–17 PSUAC and USCAA player of the year.
