Women’s Basketball Downs Penn State Hazleton, 70–56

Penn State York Women's Basketball opened its conference schedule Friday evening, Nov. 17 with a quality 70–56 road win over Penn State Hazleton. York led by 5 at the half and used a big third quarter to take a 14-point lead they would not relinquish.
 
Karra Thomason (New Oxford, Pennsylvania / Bermudian Springs High School) dominated the paint, leading all players with 16 rebounds to go along with 11 points. Emily Colon (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) just missed a double-double, pouring in 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting, while also grabbing 9 rebounds. As a team, York outrebounded Hazleton, 53–37.
 
York would have four players scoring in the double-digits, as the entire starting lineup got into the act. Sky Warner (Brogue, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) scored 14 points, while Corina Rivera (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) added 11 in her return from injury. Janelle Kress (Littlestown, Pennsylvania / Littlestown High School) added 9 points for the Lions.
 
With the win, Penn State York moves to 2–3 on the season, and starts 1–0 in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference. York returns home Monday, Nov. 20 for a 7 p.m. non-conference game against Trinity Washington.
