Warner Leads Short-Handed York in Loss at Davis
Playing for the second straight day in the Quality Inn Showcase, and missing two starters to injuries, Penn State York Women's Basketball ran out of gas in the fourth quarter and ultimately fell at Davis College 66–56 on Sunday, November 12. After Saturday's fast-paced overtime loss, York struggled shooting both from the field and at the foul line, but stayed in the back-and-forth game, even taking the lead in the third quarter.
With both junior Charizma Johnson (York, Pennsylvania / West York High School) and freshman Corina Rivera (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) out, sophomore Sky Warner (Brogue, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School) stepped into the starting lineup and made the most of her 33 minutes on the floor, scoring a game-high 22 points and recording a whopping 8 steals.
Freshman Janelle Kress (Littlestown, Pennsylvania / Littlestown High School) added 16 points on 4 of 6 shooting from distance, while Senior Karra Thomason (New Oxford, Pennsylvania / Bermudian Springs High School) was limited to just 20 minutes due to foul trouble.
With the loss, Penn State York falls to 1–2 on the young season. York next travels to the University of Valley Forge on Wednesday, November 15 and hopes to get past the injury bug as conference play opens Friday at Penn State Hazleton.
