Despite Colon’s 30, Women’s Basketball Falls in OT

Penn State York Women's Basketball produced the team's highest offensive output since the 2013–14 season, but ultimately fell in overtime to Mid-Atlantic Christian University, 92–81. Senior Emily Colon (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) scored a career-high 30 points, to go along with 9 rebounds in the losing effort at the Quality Inn Showcase at Davis College.

York fell behind early, but received some key first-half 3-pointers off the bench from freshman Catherine Brubaker (Dillsburg, Pennsylvania / Northern High School) to stay in the game. The teams would go into the break with Mid-Atlantic Christian ahead 34–29.

Colon took over in the second half, hitting deft floaters and driving to the basket for layups. Causing Mid-Atlantic Christian to foul, she nailed all eight of her free throws.

With 14 seconds left to play in regulation, Penn State York found itself up by three and was able to get a solid defensive stop. After a scramble under the basket, the ball rolled out to Mid-Atlantic Christian's Talethia Alexander, who managed to hit from distance to tie the game with just three seconds to play.

York couldn't find their momentum in overtime, as senior Karra Thomason (New Oxford, Pennsylvania / Bermudian Spring High School) fouled out and junior Charizma Johnson (York, Pennsylvania / West York High School) was knocked out of the game with an injury. Thomason finished with 15 points, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc, and 6 rebounds, while Johnson had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
