Penn State York Women's Basketball tips-off the 2017–18 season with a home scrimmage against Lancaster Bible College Friday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m.

Coach Terri Van Slyke's team returns two All-Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) honorable mention players in seniors Emily Colon (Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lancaster Catholic High School) and Karra Thomason (New Oxford, Pennsylvania / Bermudian Springs High School). Colon averaged 15.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, while Thomason nearly averaged a double-double with 11.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Other returning players include junior Charizma Johnson (York, Pennsylvania / West York High School), who averaged 8.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game last season, and sophomore Sky Warner (Brogue, Pennsylvania / Red Lion Area Senior High School), with 6.5 points per game. Coach Van Slyke welcomes five freshmen and a senior to the team this year.

Penn State York won four of their last five conference games last season to finish at 4-10 in the PSUAC (9-12 overall) and improve on the prior season's record, and the team hopes to carry the momentum over into this year.

Looking forward, York hosts Central Penn College next Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. before traveling to Davis College for the Quality Inn Showcase the following weekend. All home games are played in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center gym, and are free and open to the public.
