Men’s Soccer Opens Homestand vs. Berkeley College (NJ)

Left back Christopher Verderame challenges for the ball in a game earlier this season.

Penn State York Men's Soccer hosts Berkeley College (New Jersey) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 on the campus soccer field in the first of four straight home games for the Lions. York last faced the Knights in 2014, losing 1–0 at home. Three current Penn State York coaches suited up for the home team that day: Nick Ridolfi, Paul Ambrose, and Ethan Fair.

Berkeley is riding high, opening their season 4–0 for the first time in program history and already claiming two big wins against Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) teams: 10–0 over Penn State Mont Alto, and 7–1 over Penn State Lehigh Valley.

Penn State York is coming off of a wild 3–3 tie with Penn State New Kensington, in which York went ahead 3–2 in the 87th minute on a Casey Tober (Littlestown, Pennsylvania / Littlestown high School) goal, only to see Penn State New Kensington answer a minute later. Two goalless periods of extra time yielded the 3–3 result. York first jumped ahead with two goals within the first twelve minutes of play, but New Kensington's Pascal Bikanura scored on either side of halftime to even things at 2–2 before the late-game drama.

After Wednesday's non-conference tilt against the Berkely Knights, Penn State York hosts three straight PSUAC foes: Penn State Greater Allegheny on Sept. 17, Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Sept. 20, and Penn State Worthington Scranton on Sept. 23.
