Bio

Matt Rotonda served two seasons as team captain at Penn State York before remaining on staff under longtime Head Coach Parrish Petry from 2011-19.  As an assistant, Rotonda was an integral part of five Penn State University Athletic Conference ( PSUAC) Championship teams, winning the conference tournament in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2019 while also capturing the regular season title in 2017.  During this time, the York Lions reached the National Final Four three times as well as the National Championship game in 2017.  Prior to coming to York, Rotonda played two seasons at Ocean County College, where he was an Academic All-Region selection.

An active fixture at clinics as well as in the summer camp scene and in interview appearances both live and via recording, Rotonda is well-traveled as a guest speaker at camps, clinics and travel tournaments throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region.  He is a longtime friend of Naismith Hall of Fame Coach Bob Hurley Sr. and can often be found speaking or guest-coaching at Hurley's off-season camps.

Rotonda lists both Parrish Petry and Bob Hurley Sr. as his coaching mentors and main influences in the game.

Since ascending to the role of head coach at Penn State York, Rotonda and Penn State York Mens Basketball have been dominant in achieving results unmatched throughout the PSUAC.  Two regular season championships and the 2022 Conference title as well as a National Final Four appearance have continued the tradition of program excellence under his guidance.  The local Lions are undefeated at home since December of 2019.  The Lions have competed against NCAA Division 1 and 2 opponents in non-conference matchups throughout each season of Rotonda's tenure while they continue to be a standard-bearer for successful programs throughout Pennsylvania and small colleges nationwide.  In all, The Lions have won 77 games on the court in three seasons under Rotonda, while also maintaining their excellence off the court through accolades for their academic performance.  The program routinely boasts a team grade-point average (GPA) above a 3.0.

Rotonda resides in York and in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.
