Men’s Basketball Tips Off Season at Thaddeus Stevens

Penn State York Men's Basketball tips off the 2018–19 season with an away game at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, Pa. at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1. York prevailed in the teams sole matchup last season, with a 95–66 home win in mid-November 2017.

Penn State York looks to build on a successful 2017–18 campaign, which saw the team finish 17–8 overall and finish third in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) with a 12–4 conference record. York advanced to the PSUAC Semifinals before falling to eventual champion Penn State Brandywine.

York returns four of five starters from last season, including All-American Richard Grant (York, Pennsylvania / Susquehannock) and PSUAC Defender of the Year Justin Luton (Baltimore, Maryland / Newtown). Both seniors this season, Grant led York with 18 points and 9 rebounds per game, while Luton added 8.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

Captaining York alongside Grant and Luton is junior Joey O'Dwyer (Baltimore, Maryland / Dulaney), who scored 10.6 points per game last season on 41% shooting from 3-point range. Last year's starting point guard Larry Rascoe (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania / Suquehanna Township) returns for his junior season after leading the team with 5.3 assists per game.

Parrish Petry, 2016–17 PSUAC Coach of the Year (his third such honor), welcomes eight newcomers to his squad of fifteen, including senior transfer Anthony Bennett, Jr. (Aberdeen, Maryland / Aberdeen).

After a couple of home scrimmages in October, Penn State York starts the season with four straight non-conference games on the road. York then opens the PSUAC regular season at home against Penn State Wilkes-Barre on November 27 at 8:00 p.m. All home games are held in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center Gym on the Penn State York campus, and are free and open to the public.
