Game 2:

Entering the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday, Penn State York looked to avoid being swept by Penn State Brandywine. However, PSU Brandywine would put up a crooked number and score three runs in the first-inning and maintain their lead for the rest of the game over PSU York. Kent Walker (York, Pa. / Red Lion) would struggle with his control for PSU York on the mound and PSU Brandywine took advantage of that. Walker would pitch 4 1/3 innings while allowing eight hits, seven runs (seven earned), five walks, and two hit batters. Chad Speiser (Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern York) would relieve Walker but only recorded one out in his short outting on the mound. Jonny Stratton (Howell, Nj. / Howell) would finish the game for PSU York, allowing three hits, three runs (one earned), while striking out one batter over 2 1/3 innings.

At the plate, PSU York would score one run in the first, second, and fourth-innings, but trailed 6-3 entering the fifth-inning. Seniors Brady Lefever (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown), Brad Church (York, Pa. / York Suburban), Alex Peters (Bel Air, Md. / Patterson Mill), and Jonny Stratton combined for seven of the nine hits for PSU York in game two. Church scored three runs in the loss and Stratton recorded two RBI's.

PSU Brandywine would score five more runs in the fifth-inning and three runs in the seventh-inning, putting the game out of reach for PSU York. PSU York would score five more runs in the game, but the comeback was unsuccessful as PSU Brandywine won the game with a final score of 14-8.

PSU York drops to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in the PSUAC with the loss. PSU Brandywine improved to 15-14 overall and 7-5 in the PSUAC.

PSU York will be back in action this Friday, April 19th, as they travel to Penn State Hazleton for a single nine-inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
