Baseball Loses Series Against Wilkes-Barre

Game 2:

Penn State Wilkes-Barre won Game 2 of the doubleheader Sunday afternoon with a final score of 3-1. Penn State York and Penn State Wilkes-Barre would trade zero's until the top of the fourth when PSU Wilkes-Barre would take a 1-0 lead. PSU York would struggle offensively, as they were only able to collect three hits in Game 2. 

PSU Wilkes-Barre would increase their lead to 3-0 in the top of the sixth thanks to a 2-run home run from Tanner Williams. PSU York would score one run in the bottom of the sixth after an RBI walk by Brad Church (York, Pa. / York Suburban) would score Austin Lehman (Millersburg, Pa. / Millersburg Area). Despite their efforts to comeback, PSU York would be held scoreless in their last at bats. 

On the mound, Kent Walker (York, Pa. / Red Lion) pitched 5 2/3 innings while allowing just five hits, three runs (three earned), one walk, two hit batters, while striking out two. Avery Penson (York, Pa. / York Suburban) finished the game pitching 1 1/3 innings while allowing just one hit, one walk, and struck out two. 

Brandon Hardiman was dominant for PSU Wilkes-Barre, pitching 5 1/3 innings while allowing just three hits, one run (one earned), two walks, and struck out nine. John Fagotti pitched 1 2/3 innings and did not allow a hit in relief. 

PSU York's record drops to 7-5 overall and 5-4 in the PSUAC with the loss. PSU Wilkes-Barre improves to 5-6 overall and 5-2 in the PSUAC.

The baseball team will be back in action this Thursday, April 11th as they travel to Penn State Brandywine for a single nine-inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00PM. 

Penn State York will then host Penn State Brandywine at PeoplesBank Park in York on Saturday, April 13th for a doubleheader starting at 2:00PM.
