Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader Over Scranton

Game 2: 

In the second game of the doubleheader, Penn State Scranton got off to another quick start forcing Penn State York to work from behind. In the Top of the 2nd, Penn State Scranton would plate across three runs as they got off to an early 3-0 lead. All three of the runs were given up by Brendon Delridge (York, Pa. / York Suburban) but were all unearned as the defense struggled with 3 errors. 

Penn State York would respond by putting up 1, 2, 4, and 6 runs respectively in innings 3 through 6, defeating Penn State Scranton by mercy rule with a final score of 13-3. Delridge improved his record to 2-1. While earning the complete game win, Delridge pitched 6 innings, allowing just 3 runs (0 earned), 5 hits, 6 k's, while walking 2. Penn State York was busy at the plate. Brad Church (York, Pa. / York Suburban), Ross Murog (York, Pa. / Dallastown), Chad Speiser (Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern York), and John "JP" Dyson (Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern) all collected 2 RBI's in the game. Avery Penson (York, Pa. / York Suburban) and Alex Peters (Bel Air, Md. / Patterson Mill) both collected 1 RBI in the contest. On the bases, Penn State York had four steals by four different players. Joerick Mercado (York, Pa.  Central, York), Dyson, Church, and Evan Tanner (Windsor, Pa. / York Catholic) all recorded one stolen base.

Up Next: Penn State York will travel to Penn State Scranton on Tuesday, March 26th for the final game of the series. As a result, Tuesday's game at Gettysburg has been cancelled. Penn State York will look to complete the three game sweep over Penn State Scranton and looks to improve their conference record (2-0) to 3-0 after Tuesday's game.
