Lots of Scoring, But Baseball Drops Two to Penn State Schuylkill

Penn State York Baseball dropped a pair of rescheduled seven-inning games to Penn State Schuylkill on Thursday, April 5, 13–9 and 8–6.

The first game was a contest of big innings, as York scored six in the first inning (for the second game in a row) and three in the seventh. Schuylkill however, responded with eight runs in the third inning and three in the fourth, tallying fifteen hits and building a lead York couldn't overcome.

In all, five York batters would record one hit a piece, while the team also took advantage of the Schuylkill pitchers' control issues with 10 free passes to first base. Austin Lehman (Millersburg, Pennsylvania / Millersburg) filled his first game line in the box score with one hit, three walks, one run batted in, and a stolen base. Kent Walker (York, Pennsylvania / Red Lion) took the loss on the mound for York.

In the second game, Penn State York was up 6–3 in the top of the fifth inning, but couldn't hold the lead as Schuylkill put up four runs in the bottom of the frame. Logan Miller (Spring Grove, Pennsylvania / Spring Grove) lead the way for York at the plate, going 2–4 with an RBI and a stolen base, while Sean Meekins (Middle River, Maryland / Archbishop Curley) took the loss on the hill.

Penn State York has a full slate of games, hosting Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 2pm Friday, April 6, before travelling the next day for the return double-header at Wilkes-Barre.
